Service Agreement
Our service agreement is suitable for permanent, part-time and fixed term executives that are employed by your company. We recommend that it is used with our employment handbook. The service agreement complies with UK employment legislation.
Employers are required by law to give a written statement of the main
terms of employment to their employees, including executives, within eight
weeks of them starting work. Our service agreement, which is also a contract
of employment, is the best way of providing this information to your directors.
The service agreement includes terms about:
- When the service agreement will commence
- How long it is for
- Place of work
- Normal working hours
- Pay
- Holidays
- Collective agreements
- Disciplinary procedures
- Dismissal
- Grievance procedures
- Capability policy
- How the service agreement may be ended
Terms of Employment
The service agreement is also a statement of the other terms of the executive’s employment, such as:
- The provision of company cars
- Payment of bonuses
- Pension contributions
- Permanent health insurance
- Private medical insurance
- Resignation as a director on termination of employment, and
- Restrictive covenants
Employment Procedures
The service agreement also incorporates your employment procedures by reference such as:
- Health & safety policy
- Driving at work and company car policy
- Flexible working, and
- Retirement procedure
that are contained in your employment handbook.
We provide and maintain your directors’ service agreement, employment contract and employment handbook on an affordable subscription service. We compile your service agreement and employment handbook from your choice of those terms of employment and employment procedures relevant to your executives. We then tailor your employment documents specifically to your requirements. For example, the directors’ service agreement might provide that their use of a company car could, at the company’s discretion, be replaced with a car allowance.
In addition to a service agreement and employment handbook, we also provide other employment documents, such as an employment contract for your company’s staff. It too complies with UK employment legislation, but does not contain the provisions specific to a director’s service agreement.
Each time there is a law change that affects your employment contract, service agreement or your employment handbook we will automatically update them and send you your up-to-date employment documents. Knowing that your employment documents are up-to-date gives you peace of mind.
Our e-mail newsletter keeps you informed of developments that may affect either your service agreement or employment handbook. We also provide you with telephone HR support to help you implement your service agreement and employment procedures. Legal advice on your employment documents is available from our 24 hour advice line.
